The March edition of Xtracts is finally here, your digital news overview. So make yourself a cup of coffee, find a ray of sunshine and then get down to business with 5 of the most important digital news.
1. Apple has more visions than Vision Pro
Apple is busy developing new ideas – some more real than others. Recently, it has been announced that Apple is playing with ideas such as headphones with a built-in camera and so-called smart glasses. The first-mentioned idea in particular may sound a bit far-fetched. But why not – the Apple Vision Pro has already proven to be a bit of a hit.
However, both concepts are more part of an exploration phase than they are actual products. And therefore these are not products we should expect to see on the market in the near future – the same applies to the long-rumored Apple Smart Ring. Still, it’s exciting to be introduced to Apple’s fascinating – and sometimes slightly futuristic – universe of ideas.

2. X competitor is now available to everyone
Blue sky. That’s the name of the X competitor from 2022, created by Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey. Until now, it has only been possible to become part of the social media with an invitation. But now the platform is finally opening up to everyone.
But what is special about Bluesky? 1) There is a strong focus on decentralization and 2) a strong connection to the old Twitter. The functions are also reminiscent of Twitter back in the days: short posts, only with the option to upload a completely ordinary picture.
So far, the medium’s popularity has gone up and down in line with what Elon Musk are doing on X. With the previous invitation system, the platform has managed to get 3 million users. It is interesting to see whether there will be an influx as a result of the new all-access tactic.

3. Google Ads introduces their new function “Solutions”
Then there is news from Google Ads: They have announced the launch of their new free tool “Solutions“, which is designed to streamline campaign management and automate tasks for advertisers.
The new tool will be possible to find under the “Tools” tab, and can help you generate performance reports, manage budgets, and optimize your advertising efforts so that they become more effective.
And best of all, the tool is designed to be easy to use and accessible – regardless of your technical skills.
To make it all even easier, Solutions offers a number of automated templates that link to different aspects of campaign management. Each of these templates can be adapted so that they match the needs of the individual – and thereby minimize the time that would otherwise be spent on manual campaign management.
In short, it’s a step towards making campaign management easier and more accessible to advertisers.

4. Posts across Facebook and Threads
Meta is testing the possibility of being able to post across Facebook and Threads. If you write a post on Facebook, you will have the option to press a button that automatically posts the same on Threads. In the same way as it is already possible with image between Facebook and Instagram. However, the post may only contain text and links – no images, no video.
It’s all part of Meta’s plan to create greater connectivity between its platforms. However, Threads is no lonely island, completely separated from the rest of the Meta universe. Both on Facebook and Instagram, a small feed already appears every now and then, telling you what you miss on Threads.
But then the question is: is it a good idea? Do users on Threads really want to read posts that are normally reserved for Facebook?
Facebook, Instagram and Threads are all different channels, each with their own purpose, features and language. Therefore, it is also not the same people that users follow and interact with across the three channels. So is it compatible at all?
At the moment, the feature is only in the testing phase – only on iOS and not in the EU. Therefore, we have to wait a little longer to find out whether it is a function that provides something good for the two channels.

5. AI gives you a hand with your recruitment on LinkedIn
AI is becoming more present on LinkedIn. The platform has recently revealed that over the next few months, new elements powered by AI will be implemented to its Recruiter HR platform. This concerns, among other things, on conversation prompts to help build recruiting projects, improved tracking of the recruiting process, and AI recommendations for titles and skills in job postings.
The updates are the latest additions to LinkedIn’s growing adoption of AI. And these AI elements will make it easier to target the right candidates and requirements, as it becomes possible to get suggestions for titles and skills that best match a potential suitable candidate.
The parent company Microsoft tries to implement AI wherever they see the possibility that it will be able to optimize a process. And in relation to the new LinkedIn updates, it seems that they are on to something good.
